Each scholarship is for one year only. If the winner cannot accept the scholarship for any reason, the runner-up will be awarded the scholarship.

Selected applicants will be contacted to schedule a formal interview with the scholarship committee.

Adams County School District 50 Leadership Scholarship 
Amount: $2,000.00                            Quantity:  1
Requirements:  Applicants for this scholarship must be scheduled to graduate from an Adams County School District 50 high school in the spring of 2016.  The District 50 Leadership Team is sponsoring this scholarship as a way to acknowledge and reward young student leaders in hopes they will continue to give back to their community after graduating from District 50 and furthering their post-secondary education.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated a strong history of leadership during their high school years as well as a commitment to their community through giving and volunteerism.

 

District 50 Education Foundation Outstanding Student Scholarship
Amount: $5000.00                             Quantity: 1
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016.  The successful applicants must rank in the top five percent of their class, have competitive ACT and/or SAT scores, will have completed a rigorous course of study which may include Advanced Placement courses, International Baccalaureate, and college courses.  Selection will be based on academic achievement.

  • The successful candidate will have participated in some aspect of his/her school's extracurricular program
  • Student will have performed volunteer and/ or community service  
  • Student will be able to convincingly describe the future college and career plans 

 

 
District 50 Rescue Unit Scholarship

Amount: $1,500.00                            Quantity: 1
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016 or be a long time resident in District 50.  The funds were donated by District # 50 Volunteer Rescue Unit; formed in 1947 and disbanded in 1991.  Applicants for the scholarship will be evaluated based on academic achievement. 

  • Applicants must intend to major in a health care field including paramedical, emergency medical, radiology, and nursing, medical assistant, pre-med, physician's assistant or dental training.

Don Rhoda Promising Student Scholarship
Amount: $1,500.00                            Quantity:  1
Requirements:  Applicants for this scholarship must be scheduled to graduate from an Adams County School district 50 high school in the spring of 2016.  The Westminster Retired School Employee Association has sponsored this scholarship in honor of Don Rhoda for his service as Principal of Ranum High School, Board Member of the Education Foundation, and Chair of the Scholarship Committee for 20 years.  The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to pursue post-secondary education at a vocational school, college or university. Selection will be based upon academic achievement.

First National Bank Scholarship - To Be Confirmed
Amount: $1,500.00                            Quantity: 2
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016 with the desire to pursue a Business degree.  The successful applicants must rank in the top five percent of their class, have competitive ACT and/or SAT scores, will have completed a rigorous course of study which may include Advanced Placement courses and college courses. Selection will be based on academic achievement.

Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation Employee Scholarship
Amount: $2,000.00                            Quantity: 1
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016.  District 50 Education Foundation sponsors this scholarship to honor the partnership between Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation and School District 50 recreation programs, the student employment opportunities, as well as substantial support of the District 50 Education Foundation.    Selection will be based primarily on academic achievement.

  • Applicants for this scholarship must show proof of employment at Hyland Hills Parks and Recreation for at least one summer or winter and must be enrolled at an accredited two or four-year College, university or vocational school in the fall 2016.
    • Copy of a W2 or a paystub will be accepted as proof of employment

The Iver C. Ranum/WRSEA/Premier Members Credit Union Memorial Scholarship for Future Teachers
Amount: $2,500.00                            Quantity: 2
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016.  This scholarship is co-sponsored by the Premier Members Credit Union and the Westminster Retired School Employees Association.  Iver C. Ranum began teaching in the district in 1935, became principal in 1939, and was superintendent from 1950 to 1976.  Selection will be based on academic achievement.

  • Applicants for this scholarship must intend to pursue teaching as a career.


The “Just Like Us” Scholarship

Amount:  $500.00                              Quantity: 3
Requirements:  Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016 with the desire to attend either a community college or a four year university.  Students must be DACA students (undocumented) and in need of financial assistance to attend college.


Leslie De La Torre Scholarship

Amount:  $500.00                              Quantity: 1
Tragically in 2012, Westminster students lost a dear friend and classmate Leslie De La Torre. Leslie was in a car accident and was killed by a driver that was texting. In honor of Leslie the class of 2015 decided to create a scholarship in her name. This scholarship is open to any Westminster High School student who is interested in criminal justice, forensic science, law enforcement or law. There is no GPA requirement.

 
Multicultural Ambassadors of Peace Scholarship
Amount:  $750.00                              Quantity: 2
Requirements:  Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from Westminster High School in the spring of 2016 and must be planning to attend a Colorado college or community college.  Priority will be given to first generation college students and undocumented students.  Applicants must community oriented and have participated in community service or have provided for their community in some way.

 

Paul Hustad Coaching Scholarship 

Amount: $1000.00                             Quantity: 1

Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016 with the desire to pursue coaching as a career.  The applicant must intend to pursue post-secondary education to meet this goal.  Paul Hustad was a classroom teacher and varsity basketball coach for 33 years at Westminster High School with a record of 384 wins and 157 losses. His 1975 team won the class 5-A state championship with a 35-0 record.  Hustad was Colorado Coach of the Year in 1975, 1976 District # 6 national coach of the year, coached 10 state tournament teams, 8 all-state players and over 400 athletes. Selection will be based on academic achievement.

  • Student must be pursuing coaching as a career
  • Receipt of the scholarship will not prevent the student from qualifying for the regular scholarship process.

 

Peierls Scholarship
Amount: $2,500/year for 4 years, total of $10,000 each              Quantity: 5

Requirements:  Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016.  Applicants must be US Citizens, permanent residents, and DACA recipients of Latino or African American ethnicity.  Students must be enrolled at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, University of Colorado Denver, or Community College of Denver and must be planning to attend classes in the fall of 2016 full time (12 credits or more).  The scholarship is open to any major/field of study.  Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and demonstrate financial need.  Priority is given to first-generation, low-income students who are making progress towards earning their first Bachelor’s degree.

Expectations:  Students who are offered and receive the scholarship must maintain full time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress every semester in order to keep the scholarship. To do this they will provide a transcript and enrollment verification information as well as a FERPA form (signed permission for us to request grades and discuss academic and financial information with your college or university) every semester they are enrolled.
  
Students who are selected for and who accept the scholarship must participate in a scholar celebratory dinner that is also open to their families.  Students must check in every month they are in school with the Scholarship Program Director either by phone or in person at a time convenient to the student and the Director.  Each scholar must commit to give back to Adams 50 by serving as a speaker or mentor at least twice a semester.  Scholars will also be asked to write a thank you letter to the donors. These activities must be arranged through the Future Center at Westminster High School and must be approved and tracked by the Scholarship Program Director at Adams County School District 50.


Westminster Retired School Employee Association Vocational Scholarship
Amount: $1,250.00                            Quantity:  1
Requirements:  Applicants for this scholarship must be scheduled to graduate from Adams County School District 50 high school in the spring of 2016. The Westminster Retired School Employees Association has sponsored this scholarship. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to pursue post-secondary education in a vocational or technical career, college or university. Selection will be based upon academic success and specificity of post high school education plans.

 

Westminster Retired School Employee Association Academic Scholarship
Amount: $1,250.00                            Quantity:  1
Requirements:  Applicants for this scholarship must be scheduled to graduate from an Adams County School District 50 high school in the spring of 2016. The Westminster Retired School Employees Association has sponsored this scholarship. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong commitment to pursue post-secondary education at a college or university. Selection will be based upon academic success and specificity of post high school education plans.

 

William Schaffner Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,000.00                            Quantity: 1
Requirements: Applicants must be scheduled to graduate from any Adams County School District 50 High School in the spring of 2016.  The family of William "Bill" Schaffner has sponsored this scholarship to honor Bill Schaffner, a talented musician and valedictorian of the class of 1973 at Westminster High School.  He earned a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees from MIT and a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University.  Selection will be based on academic achievement.

  • Applicants for this scholarship must intend to major in the field of science leading to a career in science.
